Miami 2022

Miami Polaroids 2022 marks a year when my life in South Florida reached a new level of heat, spectacle, and visibility. From sunset portraits on my balcony to my first rodeo, from photographing figures in queer nightlife to encounters at clothing-optional resorts, Muscle Beach, and Haulover, the work tracks a Miami that was both glamorous and gritty.

These images also register my growing presence within queer visual culture, including collaborations with performers and artists from Canada’s Drag Race and GayLetter. Moving through the city from my perspective in a power wheelchair, I photographed bodies, sun, and public play as forms of celebration and survival.

Made on one-of-one instant film, the 2022 Polaroids are raw, immediate records of a year saturated with sweat, light, and desire — moments too unruly for social media but perfectly suited to the intimacy and permanence of Polaroid.
